Ham Seitan

Silas's daycare is really pushing my abilities to come up with Vegetarian culinary delights that look fairly accurate, and that he will hopefully eat.

Last week I experimented with a mushroom and Quorn Tetrazzini. This week is ham and Beanie Weenie Casserole.

I found another blog called "A Veg*n for Dinner", which luckily supplied me with a "hammy" seitan recipe. After the purchase of a few special ingredients (soy flour and liquid smoke), I set to work making a ham.

4 hours later, my ham was ready. It's OK. Tonight I am going to try frying it in some olive oil and glaze it with something. It looks kind of like processed meat, which is probably what daycare will be serving.
